Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), conducted an official visit to Dakar, Senegal, to explore and expand opportunities for defence cooperation between the two nations.
According to an official statement, the visit aimed to strengthen strategic ties and identify potential joint defence projects and technology-sharing initiatives. The discussions highlighted the SSB’s commitment to deepening Türkiye’s defence industry collaboration with Senegal, reflecting a broader strategy of establishing strong global partnerships.


During his visit, President Görgün held discussions with senior Senegalese officials, including representatives from the Turkish Embassy, Senegalese Ministry of Defence, Prime Minister M. Ousmane Sonko, and President M. Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The meetings addressed potential new cooperation models and collaborative projects in defence technologies and security, reaffirming Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to contribute to regional security through robust international defence partnerships.
Senegal already fields a number of Turkish-made armoured vehicles including the Otokar Cobra II and Nurol Ejder Yalçın.
The visit highlights Türkiye’s proactive stance in global defence industry cooperation, reinforcing strategic relationships with key partners across the African continent.
