As the leading force in the UAE defense market, EDGE Group’s substantial presence at IDEX 2025 is no surprise. Their display space is the largest at the event, and they have a multitude of new unveilings and announcements.

EDGE showcased various unmanned ground vehicles, their latest first-person view UAVs, and introduced the national offshore patrol vessel Falaj 3, also known as the Altaf.

However, according to CEO and Managing Director Hamad Al Marar, EDGE’s ambitions extend beyond Abu Dhabi. In an interview with Breaking Defense, Al Marar outlined plans for international growth.

“We have positioned EDGE globally and observed an increase in exports and foreign deals. We have consistently worked towards maintaining a stable order book, focusing on areas such as autonomous systems, electronic warfare, and smart weapons. Our display at IDEX reflects our expanding offerings,” said Al Marar.

He further emphasized the company’s strong focus on naval applications, including ships, Combat Management Systems (CMS), underwater systems, underwater armament, and mine disposal.

When questioned about the secondary market EDGE aims to penetrate, Al Marar replied, “Africa. Our focus spans North Africa, from Egypt to Morocco, and extends across the entire continent. Additionally, we are focusing on Brazil and specific regions in Asia. However, Africa is where we anticipate the fastest growth.”

For EDGE’s five-year plan, Al Marar stated, “Our goal is continuous growth on an international scale, seeking alliances with countries outside the UAE.”

This year’s International Defense Expo (IDEX) is the largest yet, featuring numerous defense firms from countries like the US, Germany, Russia, and China. Many participants showcased their most prominent platforms, including drones, tanks, and self-propelled howitzers.
