The Russian combat-tested Supercam S350 UAV will be presented to the Southeast Asia for the first time in Hanoi, Vietnam, during the Viet Nam Defence Expo 2024 held from December 19 to 22, said the official representative of the Unmanned Systems Group – the developer and manufacturer of the drone.

Supercam S350 may be useful for defense and civil purposes in Vietnam. Such as protecting state borders, patrolling the territories of the South China Sea, performing tasks for the Ministry of Public Security, ensuring fire safety, monitoring the infrastructure of oil companies conducting oil and gas exploration on the shelf.

The UAV is resistant to adverse weather conditions, high humidity and exposure to high temperatures (up to +45⁰C), Supercam does not require a runway or additional infrastructure for operation, which is important in the mountainous and wooded terrain of Vietnam. The drone can perform similar tasks in all countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with which Russia conducts military-technical and economic cooperation.

Supercam S350 is a light-class maneuverable aircraft-type (flying wing) UAV with a video communication range of over 70 km, secure communication channels and high resistance to electronic warfare systems. It is an optimal tool for aerial monitoring in the visible and infrared spectrum, aerial photography, and laser scanning. The features of the system include the efficiency of UAV assembly, modular composite elements, interchangeable and combined payloads with unified gyro-stabilized platforms, a system for detaching wing consoles during landing to prevent possible damage, flight stability, and good controllability. Supercam is equipped with an electric motor and is capable of almost silent flight.

The device is launched with the help of a catapult (pneumatic or elastic), and lands with a parachute. It can carry different target loads such as video and thermal cameras that may detect a person from a height of 1,200 m without being noticed. According to the official representative of The Unmanned Systems Group, the drone has proven its effectiveness in military operations – during the Syrian campaign and in the Special military operation.

The system is constantly evolving and gaining new capabilities – the characteristics of the Supercam S350 and the tactics of its use are being improved. Today it is used by reconnaissance units, infantry, the UAV supports assault groups, transmits target coordinates and adjusts the fire of artillery and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

In cooperation with missile forces and artillery, Supercam improves shooting accuracy and improves the principles of warfare. The operator who is miles away from the line of combat contact can detect targets and determine the coordinates of ammunition depots, concentrations of manpower and heavy armored vehicles. The volume of information and the accuracy of the coordinates are incomparable with the data that could previously be obtained by ground reconnaissance. Supercam integrated with the decision support and fire control system allows to significantly increase the effectiveness of combat use.

Thanks to the integrated work of the UAV with the artillery and MLRS, the process of “target detection – decision making – strike on target” takes much less time. The representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense emphasize that one of the key features of the Supercam S350 is the high-definition camera as well as its silent electric engine and resistance to electronic warfare.

As the UAVs crews report you can examine shelters and machine gun positions in detail, track the movement of enemy personnel and equipment, and provide precise coordinates of targets from a height of one kilometer.

Supercam S350 that is used by the Russian Armed Forces during reconnaissance operations combines new technologies and costs less than Israeli or American-made UAVs, the manufacturer’s spokesperson said. The Unmanned Systems Group of Companies is a designer and producer of unmanned aircraft systems, optical-electronic systems and software under the Supercam brand. The Unmanned Systems Group of Companies provides a full cycle of development and production of Supercam unmanned aircraft systems. The company also has its own certified training center for operator training.
