IAG showcases armoured vehicles at AAD 2024, plans expansion in Africa

The International Armoured Group (IAG) is making significant strides in expanding its presence across Africa, showcasing two of its advanced armoured vehicles at the African Aerospace and Defence Exhibition (AAD) 2024. This move underscores IAG’s commitment to meeting the continent’s growing demand for lighter, more agile tactical vehicles.

Expanding Market Presence

IAG has already established a foothold in several African countries, with notable sales such as the Guardian 4×4 to Kenya, Mali, and Nigér. While Cameroon acquired the Rila MRAP, and Senegal the light patrol vehicle.

The company’s strategy includes participating in key exhibitions across Africa to boost its market presence. Earlier this year, IAG showcased its products at the African Security Exhibition and Conference (ASEC) 2024 in Ethiopia and the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEC) 2024 in Ghana. These efforts are part of a broader plan to increase participation in various events across the continent.

Featured Vehicles at AAD 2024

At the AAD 2024, held at Air Force Base Waterkloof, IAG presented its RILA Xtreme MRAP (mine-resistant, ambush-protected) vehicle and the Guardian Xtreme armoured personnel carrier (APC)/MRAP.

Strategic Importance

IAG’s vehicles are designed to meet the strategic, defence, and law enforcement needs of African nations, offering enhanced manoeuvrability and speed. The company’s local presence, supported by exclusive partners, ensures robust after-sales support and service.

Globally, IAG is responding to increased demand for tactical armoured vehicles, driven by conflicts in regions such as Ukraine. The company operates manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, and Bulgaria, enabling it to produce hundreds of vehicles monthly.

Future Outlook

IAG’s portfolio includes nearly 100 different armoured vehicle models, from SUVs to buses and MRAPs. Its factory in Bulgaria is one of the largest privately owned armoured vehicle manufacturing plants globally. With a workforce of 500 employees and growing, IAG is well-positioned to continue its expansion and meet the evolving needs of defence and law enforcement sectors worldwide.

In a statement, IAG highlighted the global focus on upgrading ageing fleets with new technologies, emphasizing lightweight armour, increased protection, and unmanned capabilities. The company remains committed to innovation and meeting the demands of a rapidly changing defence landscape.
