Egyptian military, Emirati Tawazun Council signs MoU on defence

On the sidelines of the first day of the (IDEX 2023) exhibition held in Abu Dhabi, the Tawazun Council signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, represented by the Armed Forces Armament Authority, in an effort to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the fields of developing defense industries. and security.

Tawazun Council is an independent government entity that works closely with the Ministry of Defense and security agencies in the United Arab Emirates.

The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Tariq Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, Secretary General of the Tawazun Council, and Major General Osama Ezzat, Assistant Minister of Defense for Armament, in the presence of Lieutenant General Osama Ahmed Askar, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and a number of officials from both sides.

The memorandum aims to provide all aspects of support between the two sides in order to achieve integration in the development of defense and security industries and to enhance military cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The terms of the memorandum provide for strengthening cooperation between the two brotherly countries, supporting the strategy for developing defense industries, and discussing opportunities and mechanisms for joint cooperation between them in the field of defense and security industries in a way that achieves common interests and benefits both countries.

His Excellency Tariq Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Tawazun Council, said that the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the unremitting efforts to enhance strategic cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt in light of the wise visions and continuous support of the leadership of the two brotherly countries.

He added that the memorandum of understanding aims to establish strong industrial links in the field of defense and security, and provides a practical framework for working together, and discussing prospects for cooperation on the basis of the common interests of both countries.

For his part, Lieutenant General Osama Askar said: “The memorandum of understanding in the field of defense industries between the Tawazun Council and the Armament Authority of the Egyptian Armed Forces comes within the framework of advancing cooperation frameworks in the field of military industrialization and technical support between the two brotherly countries, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership of the two brotherly countries and the advancement of defense relations to a higher level.”

Also, to create the appropriate conditions, to enhance cooperation in all fields through integration and close interdependence between the two sides and by exploiting all the capabilities and industrial and technological capabilities available in the two countries to achieve integration in the field of defense industries.
