Nigerian Navy launch customer for Caverton Aviation AW139 Full Flight Simulator

The Nigerian Navy (NN) will be supplied with a number of AW139 full flight simulator from Caverton Aviation to train it’s helicopter pilots.

Caverton Aviation Training Center – CATC provides training in a comfortable, controlled learning environment.

The NN operates a number of helicopters including at least five AW139s. In 2018, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA handed over an AgustaWestland AW139 SAR helicopter to the Nigerian Navy.

Also last year May, the Nigerian Navy took delivery of the first of four AW-139 helicopter from Leonardo Helicopters, as part of a $22 million contract signed between the Ministry of Defence and Leonardo Helicopters (formerly AgustaWestland) signed in 2006.

Caverton has also successfully carried out recurrent training for 4 pilots, and is planning for additional training in the first quarter of 2022.

Thales Reality H full-flight simulator product for the AW139 helicopter

The company was recently approved by the European Union Aviation Agency to run a full-flight simulator operator, making Caverton the first operator of Reality H system in Africa.

Caverton has been qualified by EASA as an official full flight simulator operator, using the Thales Level D, Reality H full-flight simulator product for the AW139 helicopter

It is the first Reality H system operational in Africa. Developed in France, the AW139 Full Flight Simulator offers pilots an immersive experience with faithful reproduction of their operational missions, to train in safety for a variety of complex situations (adverse weather conditions, helicopter failures and emergencies), that could occur in the real flight operations

Having been approved by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Caverton Aviation Training Centre, located within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria, is now able to commence commercial training operations for AW139 helicopter operators based in the African continent.

Caverton Aviation Training Centre makes use of Thales Level D, Reality Full-Flight simulator product for helicopter trainings. The Thales system offers pilots an immersive experience with clear reproduction of their operational missions.

Allowing pilots to train in complete safety for a variety of complex situations that could occur in real flight operations.
