Czech Republic’s Lom Praha has successfully carried out the overhaul of an Mi-171Sh helicopter belonging to the Ghanaian Air Force.
Lom Praha and Ghana last year signed an agreement to overhaul the Mi-171Sh helicopter to assist the West African country fight the COVID-19 pandemic and transport medical supplies and personnel around the country.
The Mi-171Sh (GHF697) was recently seen undergoing engine runs at the company’s facilities at Prague-Kbely Airport at the beginning of November.
“We performed a technical acceptance of the helicopter on the ground, followed by an engine test and several test flights. Everything went well and we are very satisfied with the work done by LOM PRAHA. Based on our positive experience with the state-owned company, we would like to cooperate with them in the future,” said Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the Czech Republic James Komla Nyasembi.
Lom Praha announced that work had been completed after flight testing, and will be dismantled and returned to Ghana aboard an Il-76 transport aircraft.
This is not the first time Lom Praha is maintaining aircraft for Ghana, in 2019, the Czech company overhauled an Mi-8MTV-5 (GHF690) for Ghana.
Ghana acquired four Mi-171Sh helicopters in 2013. Six of the time are currently in active service, with an additional two on order. They are used for transportation and utility.
