The Air Force of Mauritanian on 13 May received a single CASA/IPTN CN-235M-110 transport aircraft from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Mauritania Military released a photograph showing an aircraft with two propeller engines, most likely a CASA/IPTN CN-235M-110 transport aircraft which was likely acquired from Indonesia in the 1990s by UAE.
The aircraft was delivered on 13 May in a ceremony at Nouakchott International Airport attended by the military’s top echelon. It will be used for surveillance, paratrooping, medical evacuation, search and rescue and transport duties.
The Mauritanian military said the aircraft was delivered as part of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with an Emirati military delegation led by the UAE Air Force visiting Mauritania.
The Air Force of Mauritania has just a few transport aircraft in its inventory, this includes a Harbin Y-12 IIÂ turboprop transports procured from China and delivered in September 1995, one crashed in April the following year while a second one crashed on July 12, 2012.
